Starting a Business 101

Interested in starting a business or have you started and are unsure of how to continue? Have a great handle on the business but don’t have time to maintain the day-to-day if you are focusing on what makes the business a business? KDBusiness Solutions can help.

For those just starting, below is a Guide to Starting a Business – initial things to consider.

  1. What type of Bookkeeping system do I need? (KDBusiness Solutions recommends QuickBooks Pro for small to medium sized businesses)

  2. Do I have my paperwork filed with the Government - Federal and State (FEIN, Articles of Organization, etc)?

  3. Do I have a Bank Account set-up?

  4. Do I have a Business Plan - what I want to do and how I want to do it; how do I intend to get business; who are my competitors; what am I providing (what sets me apart); what are my prices?

  5. Am I going to have any employees?

  6. Do I have Budget for Expenses versus anticipated Income?

  7. How do I manage the day-to-day operations so the focus is on the Services I provide?

  8. How do I want to do business – Step by Step Guidelines (Professionally/Ethically/Office/Service/Products)

  9. When I am ready to hire someone to assist in the business, what do I need to do? Everything changes when you start to hire people to work in the business with you. Whether subcontractors or employees, there is paperwork required to be kept on file and tracking them for annual reports to the Government.

  10. How do I market my business? What social platform will I use?

The questions/list can continue as there are many facets to consider when starting a business. However, if you need assistance in knowing where and how to start above and beyond the passion, great idea, and being really good at what you do – give us a call, KDBusiness Solutions can help!
